The AHS is transitioning to a new Management Organization. New membership applications will be available soon.

Benefits of Membership

The American Hernia society offers a number of benefits to our members. We encourage any surgeon interested in abdominal wall abnormalities to join.

  • Discounted meeting registration at AHS/EHS meetings
  • Online member search for patient referral
  • Journal Hernia

AHS Meetings

AHS hosts the Annual Hernia Update each year. The course is an in-depth 3-day Hernia conference covering all areas of abdominal wall reconstruction. The meeting includes international faculty who are leading educators in hernia surgery.

Online Member Search

Surgeons are able to connect with colleagues through the AHS website. Through the "find a surgeon" tab you will be able to find other surgeon members and contact information. As a member, you have control of the information available on your surgeon profile.

The public will also have access to the "find a surgeon" search function to locate a surgeon in their area. Referrals from the web search go directly to the surgeon. This is a great marketing tool at no cost to the AHS member. The public depends on the AHS website for education and referral services.

Journal Hernia

Subscription to Journal Hernia is included in your annual dues. AHS members receive 6 electronic editions of Journal Hernia each year. Members receive access to download Journal Hernia articles online at no additional cost.

The Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative (ACHQC) aims to improve the value in hernia care delivered to patients. The ACHQC utilizes concepts of continuous quality improvement to improve outcomes and optimize costs. This is accomplished through patient-centered data collection, ongoing performance feedback, and improvement based on analysis of collected data. In order to enroll and become a part of improving patient care, ACHQC membership is a benefit to AHS members. Membership in the ACHQC does not require membership in the AHS.
